Many thanks for organising a wonderful holiday which Lulu and I thoroughly enjoyed. The safari was excellent, made particularly interesting by the vast knowledge of Mark Weiner. Unfortunately we did not see any 'big cats' but that is a perfect excuse to go back again! For the first time ever, I would like to send a thank you e.mail to the travel agency after a vacation. We came back from a fantastic vacation in Tanzania yesterday, and we are highly satisfied with your suggestions and advices given to us. Mbuyuni Camp was excellent, and the camp-elephant Joseph added humor and excitement to the stay (even though Sal started to be slightly anxious of him). Sal says hello to you. Ruaha River Lodge was better than expected, and we had a very good time there. We agree that the food needs to be improved, but if Peter could get a better cook and better mattresses, we think he is well worth our recommendations. Highlights of the tour: leopard in a baobab tree with impala kill, pack of 13 wild dogs relaxing and getting ready to go hunting, lot's of lions (never seem so many) and cheetah relaxing in the afternoon sun. Just a note to thank you for all you did to provide us with a brilliant holiday. Apart from the suitcase saga (and Hilda handled that most efficiently - many thanks to her) everything went like clockwork. A huge amount of credit to Mtili - you'll be able to read what we think about him in the attached "report". It is almost impossible to find any negatives - perhaps a TINY bit of variety in the picnic boxes might have been welcome. We ended up thinking that they must be some sort of government/national issue! The Mountain Village Hotel was brilliant. What a haven to unwind in. We got involved in the tail end of a wedding party and had a delightful hour sitting on their lawn, chatting to some of the guests. We had our best meal in Tanzania there and found the gardens stunning. If you happen to speak to the manageress there in the near future, please pass on to her our compliments. Above all, the Serengeti was beyond compare. In England, the Department of Heritage would have had the roads surfaced, organised car parks, have sold concessions to various companies to set up restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops and generally have turned it into a theme park It would probably be advertised as "The Serengeti Experience"! But to be able to see such a profusion of wildlife at such close quarters and in its natural habitat was an experience that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Thanks for the e-mail. We had a great time on the trip, and everything went very smoothly. I have been meaning to get back to you about the trip, but have been too busy digging out from under the piles on my desk. Things are getting a little more sane now, and I have some time to respond. We had a tremendous trip, and thank you for your excellent arrangements and advice. The arrangements were all as advertised, and we had very few problems. The lodges and tents were very nice, and even my wife was pretty comfortable. We got a lot of fantastic pictures, and are busy picking out the best ones for our albums and walls now.
